Learning in on online environment allows for a great deal of flexibility, whether taking one course or pursuing a degree. The greatest advantage is that you can learn on your own time, in your own home, whenever it is most convenient for you. While requiring a commitment to achieve the above skills, it also encourages the development of self-motivation and organizational skills.
MU faculty and staff from the Center for the Advancement of Mental Health Practices in Schools will help you to become familiar with this new way of doing university-level work.
Online courses have an easy-to-use format, while offering the same intellectual challenge and requiring at least the same level of student participation as conventional graduate courses. Often students studying online find that they interact more frequently with their fellow students and instructors than those studying in traditional classes. These frequent exchanges help participating students develop an extensive network of professional peers throughout the nation.
We want our students to have the best learning experience possible, so we make sure that each student is comfortable with the technology involved in taking an online course. Approximately six to eight weeks prior to the start of each semester, we offer a “trial run” course designed to familiarize students with online learning and to test hardware and software compatibility. Ongoing technical support also is available.
