The online master of education's program with a focus in mental health is designed for professionals who work with children and adolescents in the schools.
This program is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to address the significant mental health issues facing today's schools. Professionals will gain awareness of mental health issues and how they affect student academic performance and social interaction. Professionals will also learn skills to promote positive mental health, encourage positive social emotional development and increase student learning. In addition, the program is designed to provide professionals with the awareness and skills to promote their own resilience and mental well-being. All courses will be offered online.

This program does not provide school counselor certification.
Students may enroll in up to 12 credit hours of course work (four courses) prior to admission to the degree program. This allows an opportunity to begin course work before initiating the admission process.
Note
For these hours to transfer into the student's degree program admission must be finalized and the student must be admitted to the program by completion of the 12 hours.
Once you have been accepted into the M Ed program focusing on mental health practices in schools, you must comply with all department and graduate school policies. As you progress through the program, you will complete the forms listed below and submit them to your advisor.
Submit to the Graduate School as soon as possible after the exam, project presentation or thesis defense.
Note
In lieu of a written comprehensive exam, all M Ed students are required to submit a portfolio during their last semester and at least one month prior to graduation.
